In and Out
It’s quite cold with a bitter wind blowing, but we decide to do one hour on the allotment. Everything is still exactly where we left it last Sunday. It was well below freezing last night and we have fozen puddles everywhere as well as a thin sheet of ice on the waterbutt.
Eli decides to finish the rehabilitation of the sheds, while I start lifting the perennial weeds, mostly monstrous dandelions with taproots thicker than my thumb. Also lots of couch grass roots. The dandelion I keep separate, because I will use it to brew some liquid compost, but the grass roots need to be burnt.
A spot of OCD
It was unanimously decided (1 in favour and 1 abstention) that the path down the centre would be ‘straight’. It beats weeding, and it’s a job that can be done a bit at a time, so I set about trimming the edges of the path. This, of course, reveals more weeds…
Job Done
After about an hour Eli announces that both sheds are now fit for use. The doors need attention, but all the rubbish and spiderwebs are out. She has brewed some coffee which we drink while we look at the result of work.
With freezing fingers and toes we head home. I have chicken, bacon, onions and red wine at home. Coq au Vin? Mmm.

What no visit to the allotment this weekend just gone? No commitment then, a little bit of snow shouldn’t have put you off!! Those sheds are looking 100% better Eli
I thought this would be a sumemr job????
